The Texas A&M University System Health Science Center (TAMUS HSC) was established in 1999 to provide a comprehensive health care system for the state of Texas. The TAMUS HSC is a multi-institution system with four component universities and two research institutes, as well as numerous affiliated hospitals and health care facilities. The four component universities are the TAMUS College of Medicine, TAMUS School of Nursing, TAMUS Institute of Biosciences and Technology, and TAMUS Institute of Technology. The two research institutes are the Institute for Regenerative Medicine and the Institute for Neuroscience. Each of these institutions has unique areas of expertise that contribute to the overall mission of advancing healthcare in Texas.
