The University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry (URSMD) was founded in 1925 as the first medical school in the region. It was initially affiliated with the University of Rochester, but became an independent institution in 1950. Fall 2005 Admissions Statistics
The University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry is one of the top medical schools in the nation. The school’s admissions statistics reflect this status, with an acceptance rate of 5.2% for the 2019-2020 academic year. Of those accepted, 74% were in the top 10% of their high school class and 87% had a GPA of 3.5 or higher on a 4-point scale. Additionally, 27% were from underrepresented minority groups and more than half (54%) were women.
The average MCAT score for incoming students was 518, placing them in the 90th percentile nationally.
