University of Missouri, Columbia School of Medicine

The University of Missouri, Columbia School of Medicine was founded in 1872, making it the first public medical school west of the Mississippi River. In its early years, the school was known as the Missouri Medical College and housed only a handful of faculty and students. The school’s first dean, Dr. Augustus Kinsley Gardner, was instrumental in helping to establish a strong academic curriculum for the college and helped to bring in some of the top medical minds from around the country. Throughout its history, the school has held firmly to its commitment to provide high-quality medical education that is accessible to all students regardless of their background or financial means. In addition to offering a wide range of medical degrees, the university also offers research opportunities for students interested in pursuing additional studies in medicine. Over time, more departments have been added to meet increasing student demand and today there are over twenty programs available at Mizzou Med School. Check topschoolsintheusa for medical schools in Pennsylvania.
