How to get to Equatorial Guinea
From Europe, the fastest way to travel to Equatorial Guinea is usually by plane.
Airplane
direct flights go from Madrid, Zurich and Paris to Malabo. Another international airport is located in Bata.
Ship
Malabo and Bata are also the main port cities in the country. Passenger ships regularly go to Douala in Cameroon.
Bus and car
There are road connections to the neighboring countries of Cameroon and Gabon. However, these are in relatively poor condition.

There is a regular flight connection between Malabo and Bata. In addition, small aircraft can be rented in Malabo, an international pilot’s license is required.
Railways
There is no railroad network in Equatorial Guinea.
Bus
minibuses go from Bata to Mbini, Acalayong and Ebebiyin.

Most of the country’s roads are unpaved.

Visitors from Germany, Austria and Switzerland need a visa to enter Equatorial Guinea, a passport that is valid for at least three months after their stay and a return or onward travel ticket. Furthermore, sufficient funds for the stay must be proven.

Infectious diseases
The following infectious diseases can be expected in Equatorial Guinea:
- Malaria: There is a year-round risk of malaria across the country, including cities. Up to 90% of the infections occur with the very dangerous malaria tropica, the rest with malaria tertiana.

Compulsory vaccination
When entering and staying in Equatorial Guinea, all persons who are older than one year and come from a yellow fever infection area designated by the WHO are required to be vaccinated against yellow fever. Since Equatorial Guinea itself is one of the yellow fever infection areas identified by the WHO, vaccination is urgently recommended!
Malaria prophylaxis
When traveling in the country, it is strongly advised to undergo malaria prophylaxis. However, if the side effects seem questionable to you, you should at least have a “stand-by preparation” with you.
Who pays for vaccinations in Germany?
Most people in Germany are vaccinated against a number of infectious diseases at an early age. However, the vaccination protection only lasts up to 10 years, in some cases even shorter. Therefore, before traveling abroad, you should carefully consider against which infectious diseases a vaccination is necessary or useful in the country concerned and whether the vaccination protection, if applicable, was not too long ago.
Most statutory health insurances have been reimbursing the costs for the following vaccinations since June 2007. There is even no 10 € practice fee – but the insured usually have to pay the statutory additional payment, which is 10% of the vaccine price – that is at least 5 € and a maximum of 10 €. Under these conditions, the following vaccinations are free of charge: The costs of malaria prophylaxis are also reimbursed by some health insurance companies. As a rule, private health insurance companies (inquire beforehand) also cover the costs mentioned.

The national currency of Equatorial Guinea is the CFA Franc

It is tied to the euro.

The building of the Embassy of Equal Guinea is located on Rohlfsstrasse in the Dahlem district in the Berlin district of Steglitz-Zehlendorf. Rohlfsstrasse is a quiet and beautiful cross street off Schorlemerstrasse, from which the embassy is approx. 200 m away. After another 200 m, Schorlemerstraße goes to Podbielskialle. This is where the station of underground line 3 is located.
