Formalities, visas

A valid passport is sufficient for a stay of up to three months in Andorra, for EU citizens an identity card.

Andorra is a shoppers’ paradise because the goods there are duty-free

Import and export of goods

The following goods may be exported duty-free:

– Tobacco products: 300 cigarettes, 75 cigars or 400 g tobacco

– Alcohol: 5 l wine, 1.5 l spirits (over 22%), 3 l alcoholic beverages under 22%

– Perfume: 375 ml eau de toilette and 75 ml perfume

– agricultural products: worth a total of € 175, but no more than 2.5 kg milk powder, 3 kg condensed milk,

6 kg fresh milk, 1 kg butter, 4 kg cheese, 5 kg sugar or confectionery and 5 kg of meat.

– Industrial products: up to a value of 525, – € for persons up to 15 years of age up to 270, –

– Works of art require an export permit.

Import bans on

drugs, ammunition, firearms, explosives (including fireworks), switch knives, material that glorifies violence and pornographic, radio transmitters, food, plants, flowers, live animals and objects made from endangered animal or plant species.

How to get to Andorra

You can get to Andorra by car from Barcelona either through the Tunel del Cadi Pyrenean tunnel, which is subject to a fee, or via mountain roads. From Toulouse, Tarbes and Perpignan mountain roads lead over the Envalita Pass.

The nearest airports are Barcelona or Toulouse. From there there are further connections with buses or taxis.

There are no direct rail connections to Andorra, the nearest train stations are L’Hospitalet and La Tour de Carol in France. From here buses go to Andorra. Depending on the season, buses also run from Aix-les-Thermes to Seo de Urgel. There are other bus connections from the nearest train stations in Spain to Andorra la Vella.

Travel in the country


There are various regular bus routes from major Spanish and French cities to Andorra. Buses also run between the individual places in Andorra.


There is no railroad network in Andorra.


Andorra has a well-developed, mostly paved road network, which covers approx. 200 km.

Infectious Diseases

Lyme disease occurs nationwide. The main carriers are ticks in grass, bushes and undergrowth. The transmission months are from April to October.
