St. Louis University School of Medicine was established in 1836, and is the oldest medical school west of the Mississippi River. It was founded by Bishop Joseph Rosati, who had a vision for providing medical education to students in the area. The school initially opened with just three faculty members and seven students, but it quickly grew to become one of the most respected medical schools in the nation. In 1854, it became affiliated with St. Louis University and moved to its current location on Grand Avenue in St. Louis. Over the years, SLU School of Medicine has continued to grow and expand its curriculum to include new programs such as family medicine and geriatrics, as well as research initiatives focusing on areas such as infectious diseases and cancer biology. In addition, SLU School of Medicine has established numerous partnerships with local hospitals and clinics to provide students with real-world experience in patient care settings. Today, SLU School of Medicine is ranked among the top medical schools in the country and continues to strive for excellence through its commitment to educating future generations of physicians who will make a positive impact on their communities.
