Midwestern University Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine (MWU/AZCOM) was founded in 1995 to serve the health care needs of the residents of Arizona and the Southwest. It was established as part of Midwestern University, a private, not-for-profit, regionally accredited university with campuses in Illinois, Arizona and Wisconsin. MWU/AZCOM is an allopathic medical school located in Glendale, Arizona and is the first osteopathic medical school in the state. The college offers a four-year Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree program that prepares students for practice as physicians who are licensed to diagnose, treat and prevent diseases. The college also offers postdoctoral training programs leading to advanced degrees in family medicine, internal medicine and pediatrics. In addition to these traditional degree programs, MWU/AZCOM also provides continuing education opportunities for practicing physicians through its annual Spring Symposium and other events throughout the year. MWU/AZCOM has a long history of providing quality health care education to future physicians from diverse backgrounds.
