A.T. Still University Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (ATSU-KCOM) was founded in 1892 by Andrew Taylor Still, MD, DO. The college was originally called the American School of Osteopathy (ASO) and was the world’s first osteopathic medical school. ATSU-KCOM has a rich history of innovation and leadership in osteopathic medicine, providing quality education to students for over 125 years. In 1899, ASO became the first osteopathic college to offer a four-year curriculum and graduated its first class in 1902. In 1921, the school changed its name to Kirksville College of Osteopathy and Surgery (KCOS). Later that same year, it merged with the Missouri College of Osteopathy to become ATSU-KCOM. The university has since grown to include several campuses throughout the United States and abroad, offering both doctoral and master’s degree programs in a wide range of health sciences disciplines.
