Applied to a Trendnet TV-IP762IC
Whether watch her cat, a production machine or children, nothing like a network camera, better known under the nickname of IP camera. Learn all about the installation and use of such a device, follow the guide, with a model that we have selected for its simplicity.
For this tutorial, we chose to use the TV-IP762IC Trendnet model. Why this camera and not another, as we have had several hands of different brands? For its price-features interesting and relatively representative operation of models on the market.Indeed, it offers a maximum resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels honorable – it is no certainly not the highest definition, but it is enough in many cases. It also includes infrared night vision capabilities, access from a mobile application, a microphone and a loudspeaker, a micro SD card slot for recording and motion detection, all for less than 100 €.
Set the Camera
To get started, install the Camera Utility. Two options are available, or you have a DVD player on his computer, in which case you can use the CD included in the box, or we went on the manufacturer’s website and download the software version for its product and its system operating.
Once connected, the software will search the camera on the network and must eventually show its model and its MAC address. The next step is to choose a username coupled with a password. So we will choose a new password for our camera by filling the last two fields.
Finally, the network selects on which you want to install it and you enter the password for it. We click on Next and then after a few moments, we are asked to unplug the Ethernet cable.
To create a shortcut on the desktop, then just click on the small camera logo.
Connect to the camera from the computer
If a shortcut was created, simply click on it to open the camera management page. Otherwise, it is available at xxxxxxxx.cam.trendnetcloud.com, which is on the back of the camera. It enters his username and password to login.
On the management page, in addition to having a live view of what the camera is filming, we have access to some parameters for video, audio or still image adjustment. To go further, you must go to the tab Advanced and click Settings . This leads to a new page on which its identifying information again.
By default, this page is in English. To go on a French version, it will replace ” eng ” in the address bar by ” fr ” and press enter.
Now that the interface is in French, it can start by changing the user name which is, by default, admin . To do this, we realize insystem / Admin then exchange information. In the tab Network , you can set the Wi-Fi, if initialization had been made in Ethernet. One of the interesting features of this camera is the possibility of triggering recording in case of motion detection. Then goes to the tab Detection movements and the box is checked Enable . Movement of the sensitivity can be defined from which the registration thus triggers a particular area of the screen in which the movement is to be detected. This is useful if one of the areas of the picture is occupied by an element that is constantly moving. In the tab Sound Detection can be applied the same as for the movement to sounds detected by the microphone of the camera. These functions are then programmed in the tabAction . One can define in which cases a recording is triggered, and the destination of the saved file. You can also select the micro SD card, a specific network path or sending email to be notified immediately.
This provides access to the live image and offers the same settings as the web interface. To add a camera, simply click on the little tab with a “+” in the upper right of the screen. Then we enter in a name for the camera in question, the ID of it – these are the 8 digits present at the beginning of the web interface address, it is found the back of the camera – and his credentials .
If the TV-camera Trendnet IP762IC was chosen for this tutorial, we also tested another model, the DCS-2136L Dlink. The latter provides very similar options on paper, but for a much higher price, more than 200 € on average.
If the Dlink model also boasts of having a night vision mode, it does actually that of a Led which, in addition to signal very clearly the position of the camera, shows rather versatile in its intensity . The rendering is therefore in color, unlike other models that work in infrared, but comes at the expense of discretion.
