Sleeping Bag Synthetic Insulation

Slip into a warm and cozy sleeping bag is one of the singular pleasures of wilderness adventure. Now, as a well-chosen bag can get restful sleep, so a bad bag adapted to climatic conditions can cause discomfort.

Temperature Ratings

When the time comes to determine what sleeping bags category choose (winter, summer or 3 seasons), have in mind the use you plan to make your own, and then compare the temperature ratings for each category. Temperature ratings are a general thermal efficiency and serve as a point of comparison. During testing, MEC has attempted to match its ratings as closely as possible to reality. If you are chilly, opt for a warmer bag.

The Down And Synthetic Insulation

Down is one of the best insulating materials that are found in nature. Whether it is the warmth-weight, compactability or resilience, no other insulation can not the amount. Its ability to absorb perspiration and comfortably fit the shape of the body is incomparable.

Down is the fluffy layer that lies beneath the feathers of waterfowl and consisting of thousands of plumules (downy filaments rooted in the tips of the feathers). The most used quilts from ducks and geese reared for their meat. All duvets used contain some feathers and feather fibers.

The PIMASLEEPINGBAGS offers duvets goose or duck for making backpacking sleeping bags. Quality duvets does not depend on the species of birds which they come, but the environment and maturity of these. When subjected to cold and wet conditions, the body reacts birds under cover of thick warm blanket. The gray down and the white down are equally effective as the other, but for aesthetic reasons, white duvet sold more expensive. The fluff can be used for filling of light or translucent fabrics without any danger of piercing.

Synthetic Insulation

The sleeping bag with synthetic insulation is resistant and sometimes a better choice than that of down. Offered at a lower initial cost, synthetic bag is non-allergenic and, unlike the bag down, it retains a certain warmth when wet.

The weight and compactability of a sleeping bag with synthetic insulation vary by model. Generally, the more synthetic insulation is resistant, the more the sleeping bag is bulky and heavy.

Filling Capacity

The filling capacity measures the quality of down. It is usually expressed in cubic inches per ounce. A duvet with a fill power of 500 to 550 cubic inches per ounce is considered an acceptable quality down, while a down of 600 to 700 cubic inches per ounce is considered good and a down 750 to 850 inches cubes per ounce of excellent quality. Items that have a good filling capacity provide better insulation for the same weight.

Bag Shapes

The shape of a sleeping bag plays an important role in its performance in addition to determine the comfort and volume.

Mummy Bag

The mummy bag is known for its lightness and its ability to retain heat.Conformable body, it reduces heat loss and provides better warmth to weight a larger bag. However, some people find it too confining.

Barrel Bag

Barrel bag swapped thermal efficiency for more space. It is not equipped with a cap, it is slightly tapered and has an oval style feet. It is also a bit larger and heavier than the mummy bag.

Rectangular Bag

The rectangular bag is not very popular with travelers in wilderness because despite the fact that it provides little insulation, it is bulky and heavy.Ample and inexpensive, it is especially useful for hot temperatures.
